BAY OF CAMARGUE SAILING

A unique body of water

This body of water has been awarded the "Land of Games" label and has been used as a "Training Center for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games." The area is recognized as a must-visit destination for watersports enthusiasts. It already hosts numerous international competitions, such as the Carnon Wingfoil Event.

The Bay of Camargue is distinguished by its consistent winds year-round and its technical sailing conditions, navigable 365 days a year. Influenced by strong regional winds, particularly the Mistral and the Tramontane , it offers a demanding playing field where sailors must demonstrate adaptability. With sometimes significant swells and subtle wind transitions, this body of water tests precision, tactics, and technical mastery, providing an ideal setting for high-level competitions.

An exceptional natural setting
Nestled between the Mediterranean Sea and the Camargue region, the Bay of Aigues-Mortes offers a breathtaking panorama where dunes, ponds, and marshes meet the sea. This Natura 2000 protected area, rich in flora and fauna, boasts exceptional biodiversity. During your visit, you will likely have the chance to spot the famous pink flamingos of the Camargue. This preserved natural environment adds a unique dimension to the sailing experience, blending sport and nature.

Ease of access

For the spectators:

The competition venue is easily accessible from Montpellier via tram line 3. Get off at the terminus (Étang de l'Or stop in Pérols) and then walk to the beach, or take bus line 1 of the Transp'Or network to the "Les Roquilles" stop (the journey is free with a free pass). Please note for those without a free pass: the service is provided by two separate networks (different fares and tickets).

Then you just need to continue on your way towards the beach or the port, a 5-minute walk away, where you will find the nautical base at the end of the outer harbor, on the right bank.
